What these apps are
Vahci apps are web apps. You install them from the page you are on rather than from Apple's or Google's store, and afterwards they sit alongside your other apps and open the same way.
What is better
- Always current. There is no update to install and no version left three releases behind.
- Nothing to approve. No store decides what you are allowed to have.
- The same app on every device you use.
- Small. It will not eat your storage.
- Kept to itself. A Vahci app cannot reach the rest of your device — it only ever sees its own data.
What is worse
- It cannot back up your camera roll while you are not looking. That needs an ordinary app.
- Notifications are less dependable in some browsers, and in a few they do not arrive at all.
- Installing is clumsier than a store, and clumsier again on Firefox and on Apple devices.
- Some of your device's hardware stays off limits.
